Q: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.
Up until reading The Host, I disliked all sci-fi. I’d never really tried reading any, but I just “knew” I wouldn’t like it. I read The Host: A Novel, which isn’t even a heavy sci-fi book, but it threw me into the genre and made me love it. (Another one…Bex of Kindle Fever convinced me to read a Comfort Food *adult title*…same deal!)
As for why…I’m a reader who is willing to try reading anything/genre at least once. I’m pretty brave when it comes to reading. If someone recommends it to me and stands behind it, I’ll likely attempt to read it. (I’m known for going into a library or store and grabbing something random without knowing anything about it in various genres too. I also do this for music. ) I’m not so adventurous when it comes to books for review, but in my free time – everything is game!
