Brooke Keller’s a high school junior who never spent much time living in one place. She’s finally in a town long enough to almost snag the boy of her dreams, until her life is threatened by a fanged man in his attempt to kidnap her. Brooke begins a dangerous journey to find out who is after her and how to stop them. Thrown into a world with powerful and prejudiced vampires, Brooke must tap into the side of herself that she never knew existed, at the risk of losing her life in order to save it.

There’s a bit of hype surrounding Descended by Blood that I’ve heard, so I was a bit cautious to read it. It definitely lived up to the expectations for me. Vampires as a whole have been a bit overdone, yet I just can’t stop reading about them. Kace has created a vampire-world that is purely unique.

Brooke is strong, protective, and loyal to those she cares about, but at the same time she’s scared of this world she’s been thrown into. It’s realistic, all too often characters in books just accept the paranormal as “real” without much of a fight. Brooke is in denial and as more and more comes clear she keeps throwing up resistance.

Of course there is the typical love triangle…but I loved this one! If you know me, I am really picky about my love triangles. I was all prepared to love Jaren, Brooke’s boyfriend. Then Mirko came along. Sigh! I’m seriously torn. Aside from the boys there are some other great characters that make up Brooke’s circle of friends.

The world Kace has created is seriously awesome. You have different races of vampires who all hate one another. All of which want Brooke. I was kept guessing about who was what and what was really going on! It’s such a fun adventure. Descended by Blood ends on a crazy cliffhanger/twist that I’m already impatiently awaiting book two.

Make sure you check out the blog tour! Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a giveaway and an interview with Angeline Kace.
