“Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she’ll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters’ laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything– including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?”
When Nightshade first came out I didn’t want to read it, because I’m not exactly a big fan of wolves. The buzz about this book was mostly positive, so I finally decided to give it a chance. I wish I had done so sooner!
The take on wolves was very refreshing, I was expecting the typical werewolf. Instead I was introduced into the world of Guardians. Calla is a strong main character. She is very focused in her role overall, only to be led astray by Shay. I enjoy Shay, he’s the new boy in town and Calla has some sort of draw to him. I especially like Ren. Am I alone in this? He has the bad-boy quality, but seems to really want to put it aside for Calla. Plus they are destined to be together. Ugh love triangles!
This book pulled me in from the start and I cannot wait to read the sequel. If you haven’t read it yet, you might wanna consider picking it up!
