The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

“It’s always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate’s going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won’t live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he’ll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he’s crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she’ll become Henry’s future bride, and a goddess.

 If she fails…”

Mythology seems to be a common trend this season.  This book was very enjoyable.  Kate was a strong, lonely heroine, I fell for Henry early on.  Something about the bad boy image, we girls all like.  Ava was probably my favorite character, I loved everything about her.  She was slightly bitchy, but lovable.

Overall, I felt the book was very predictable.  I figured out almost all of the twists early on.  Despite that I loved the characters and would definitely read it again.  It’s a new series, so I’m really excited, I can’t wait for book 2.

This book is scheduled to be released in April 2011; I received my copy in exchange for my honest opinion from the publisher.
