Until he met Dez, Kale’s days were filled with violence and death. He was used as a weapon of destruction by the power hungry men of Denazen. He’s a Six. A person with an abnormal ability. Some people call them gifts, but not Kale. Kale’s touch means instant death to anyone.
But now there’s Dez, the girl he can touch, and they’re hunting down Sixes and warning them about Denazen. Kale is learning about the world outside captivity and trying to put his dark past behind him. But they underestimated how badly Denazen wanted him back. When Dez sacrifices herself to save the new Six they’d rescued from falling into the corp’s hands, Kale is lost. Denazen has brought out its best to get the job done. Samsen, a nightmare from Kale’s past—the only person he’s ever truly feared—has come for them, and it soon becomes obvious he has his own twisted agenda.
Kale will need all his training to get Dez back and ensure they all make it out, free–and alive. But will it be enough?
I don’t usually review short stories or novellas. They are so hard to manage without spoiling anything, but when I saw Untouched was coming out the novella for Jus Accardo’s Touch series…well, I had to have it! As a result, today I’m going to write up a mini-review of Untouched.
First off, if you haven’t read Touch get it now! When it was released last year, I fell in love with Kale. He’s mysterious, but sweet. He was overcoming his odds and is just so endearing. He’s slightly odd (with reason). Plus there’s Dez, she’s a strong heroine with a bit of attitude. The entire idea behind the series is fascinating. People with “powers” are locked up and kept in confinement. It’s eerie, but entertaining. At the conclusion of Touch, I was immediately wanting more.
And then comes along Untouched we visit the pair as they proceed with their new goal – to hunt down and rescue everyone with a power before they are taken captive. Told from Kale’s point of view, we get a bit more insight into his character. In Untouched, we meet one of those people, Kiernan. She’s SO MUCH FUN. I really hope we get to see more of her in Toxic. She’s unsure who she should trust. As teased in the synopsis, drama ensues and it’s so much fun!
Untouched is just enough to satitate my craving for more Kale (a bit) while I impatiently wait for Toxic.
I received my copy of Untouched (A Denazen Novella) from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
