You can’t help but feel sorry for Allison, but at the same time you wish you could slap her silly. At 16 she gives birth, out of desperation and fear the baby is drowned. Five years later she is released from jail for good behavior. Her family wants nothing to do with her. Through out the book secrets are uncovered. It isn’t until the end you know the chilling truth.
Claire is the adoptive mother of a 5 year old boy who is left in front of a fire station as a baby. He holds so many of the secrets.
I was in tears throughout this book. I couldn’t fathom why Brynn was so determined to never speak to not only her sister, but her parents as well. Not to mention Allison and Brynn’s parents and how they could go on pretending they had no children.
This book kept me guessing, it was amazing and so not predictable. This coming from me who typically figures out the ending of a book just a few chapters in.
