Something Witchy This Way Comes by Veronica Blade

Brainiac Tessa McClean’s newly discovered magical powers give her an escape from her self-absorbed parents. But the thrill of being a witch fades when she learns of a rival coven and begins to suspect her own coven’s motives. Evidence tells Tessa to trust one side, but instinct drives her toward the other.

When the school’s scrumptious delinquent, Hayden Anders, offers Tessa self-defense lessons in exchange for tutoring, his timing couldn’t be better. Although hanging out with him is a necessary evil in Tessa’s fight to stay alive, resisting a bad-boy she secretly yearns for might be more than she can manage.

Together, Tessa and Hayden work to unravel the mysteries behind the two covens to discover why they’ll stop at nothing to lure Tessa to their side. She must form an alliance with one of the covens before it’s too late. But the wrong decision could cost Tessa the lives of all who she holds dear — including Hayden.

The synopsis pretty much grabbed me at “scrumptious delinquent”. After all, we all love the bad boys. The synopsis puts it a bit differently than how it happens. The book opens with Hayden being blackmailed to be Tessa’s bodyguard. Enter reluctance and two complete opposites. Tessa and her friends do their best to avoid Hayden and his friends…and now they are stuck spending time together. So, their arrangement of training and tutoring begins.

Over time Tessa is made aware that things aren’t just as they appear with what everyone is telling her, so she and Hayden get closer and closer trying to uncover the truth. Hayden is adorable, guys. He’s your basic bad-boy who is always used to getting his way. Tessa is his complete opposite and she leads the “ideal” life.

Something Witchy This Way Comes kept me guessing as to what side really is good and which is bad. When I’d lean one way, the other side would do something and I’d be confused again. While there was this witch-coven battle going on, there is also a heavy romance element, so it’s sure to keep romance lovers entertained. Need an example? While I was writing this review I went to the publisher’s website and came across this excerpt that I just had to share.

I received my copy of Something Witchy This Way Comes from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
