Bridger by Megan Curd

Tour Host/Schedule: A Tale of Many Review

Ashlyn McVean doesn’t believe in fairy tales. That is, until Ashlyn is thrown into the crosshairs of grudges her grandmother created long ago. After finding out she is one of two people able to cross between faerie realms, Ashlyn is faced with trying to understand her abilities, along with navigating a new relationship with her boyfriend, Liam. As if being on a centuries old hit list and dealing with crazed pixies isn’t enough, her new abilities mean trouble for Liam. Knowing her new life puts everyone she loves in danger, Ashlyn must decide what’s most important in her life between friends, family, love, and ultimately, realms.

The synopsis grabbed my interest right away. Fairy tales hold a close place in my heart – I love them! I was a bit cautious though, in the past few years fairies and fey have populated the YA world, I always grab them up and it’s always hit or miss for me. I’m big into mythology/folklore of all types, and fey are one of my absolute favorites. In Bridger, Curd has managed to create a unique world and concept, yet kept it with a realistic feel. Well, as realistic as you can get with fairies running around.

Ashlyn’s strong, yet has some self-preservation. Too often our heroines or heroes run into their challenge without a second thought – Ashlyn doesn’t do that. Don’t get me wrong, she’s an amazing heroine, but she’s real! Most people are going to debate their actions…at least a bit. I love Liam, in fact, I love all of the Irish characters. But Liam! Awwww, he’s protective and so adorable. Love him as the love interest!

The realms were fascinating! I want to read more about them and about the characters that inhabit them. I simply cannot wait to see what happens next!
